Caydence (2011)

Update: April 2014

Caydence is doing well. She has had a great year since last June. She started Kindergarten. Started ballet lessons. Turned 6. And with the exception of the flu, a stomach bug, and some minor growing pains, has had a remarkably healthy year.

Tomorrow is her 6 month checkup at Childrens to check her stats. Hopefully we will get the all clear again, and will not have to go back for 6 more months.

Caydence's Story...

Caydence was born February 28, 2008. Before she was born we knew she had a heart defect but we thought it was a minor repair that was needed. That was not the case. Caydence has hypo plastic left heart syndrome, which means that the left side of her heart didn't fully develop. Therefore, in a series of 3 surgeries (known as the Norwood, Glenn, and Fontan), she will have the left side of her heart routed to the right side, and she will live on just the right side of her heart.

She had her 2nd surgery (Glenn) on August 8,2008. She was in the hospital for 5 days.

She will have her last surery (hopefully) on March 29, 2011. That will be her Fontan. We are expected to be in the hospital 9-10 days.

Beyond that we do not know what the future holds for Caydence, but she is our little miracle baby and we love and treasure every day we get with her.
